While there is always some inherent risk when using sedation, we dose our patients with a minimal amount of nitrous oxide that will wear off by the end of the appointment.
This is called conscious sedation. The patient will not be completely sedated but put into a relaxed state.
Because it is a light sedation, there is minimal risk to the patient, and the vast majority of patients respond well.
For patients who suffer from anxiety or the fear of the dentist, this can change the experience of going to the dentist. With sedation dentistry, patients can get the dental care they need.
To determine if light sedation is right for you, contact your local SC dentist.
